ASUPAN MAKANAN DAN KEBIASAAN BUANG AIR BESAR: PERAN SERAT DAN AIR PADA MAHASISWA KEDOKTERAN DI INDONESIA

Abstract


Asupan serat dan cairan yang rendah pada dewasa muda dapat memengaruhi pola defekasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis hubungan asupan serat dan asupan air dengan pola defekasi pada mahasiswa kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Jenis Penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan desain potong lintang (Oktober–Desember 2023) pada 193 mahasiswa angkatan 2020–2021 yang dipilih dengan simple random sampling. Asupan serat dan air minum (air putih) dicatat menggunakan food diary 2×24 jam, sedangkan frekuensi buang air besar (BAB) dan konsistensi feses dicatat menggunakan stool diary 2×24 jam dengan acuan Bristol Stool Chart. Analisis menggunakan korelasi Spearman dan korelasi ganda (serat dan air dianalisis simultan). Hasil: Asupan serat berhubungan positif dengan frekuensi BAB (?=0,462; p=0,001) dan skor konsistensi feses (?=0,317; p=0,001). Asupan air tidak berhubungan dengan frekuensi BAB (?=0,049; p=0,496) maupun konsistensi feses (?=0,119; p=0,099). Secara simultan, asupan serat dan asupan air berhubungan dengan frekuensi BAB (Sig. F change=0,001; R=0,523) dan konsistensi feses (Sig. F change=0,001; R=0,346). Asupan serat terkait dengan pola defekasi, dan asupan air berpotensi mendukung efek serat ketika dianalisis bersamaan.
